Republic Services accepts refrigerators, freezers and window A/C units (window units up to 2 by 3 feet) for a fee at the South Las Vegas and North Las Vegas transfer stations and the Apex and Laughlin landfills. (source: Republic Services)
For household refrigerators, freezers and window A/C units that are thrown away with their refrigerant inside, the final person in the disposal chain, such as a scrap recycler or landfill, must make sure the refrigerant is recovered. If the appliance arrives already empty, that business must keep a signed statement naming who recovered the refrigerant and when. Central home air conditioners dismantled on site must have the refrigerant recovered before disposal. (source: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency)
