Nevada's contractor law does not apply to the construction, alteration, improvement or repair of personal property (NRS 624.031, subsection 8), or to selling or installing a finished product that does not become a permanent fixed part of the structure (subsection 7). Work on the gas, water, electrical or refrigerant systems a built-in appliance connects to can be contractor work; if you are unsure, call the State Contractors Board at (702) 486-1100. Built-in appliance hookups can fall under licensed trades: C-1d Plumbing includes the permanent means to supply gas and the systems that heat potable water (NAC 624.190), C-2 Electrical covers installing electrical appliances and apparatuses (NAC 624.200), and C-21a Refrigeration covers refrigeration units for temperatures below 50F (NAC 624.380). The under $1,000 repair exemption never covers work of a type done by a plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, heating or air-conditioning contractor (NRS 624.031). (source: Nevada Legislature)
